With the sudden onset of freezing cold weather, and unfortunately some SNOW, I thought this would be the perfect time to start adding some warm and soothing recipes to the blog. The first one of these being mulled apple cider, perfect for those cold evenings when you’re curled up by the wood stove, or pellet stove. This recipe is super simple, and only takes a few minutes of preparation, and then a couple of hours of patiently waiting for the most delicious end result.
YOU WILL NEED:
•1 medium saucepan
•A spoon (metal or wooden)
INGREDIENTS:
•1 liter of apple cider (fresh or store bought)
•1/2 orange, sliced
•3 cinnamon sticks
•1/2 teaspoon cloves
DIRECTIONS:
1.) Add all the ingredients to your saucepan and place over very low heat. Allow to simmer for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. The longer you allow the mixture to simmer, the better and stronger the flavor will be.
2.) After the cider has simmered for several hours, remove from heat and pour into mug of choice. You can allow it to fully cool and drink it cold, but it is best warm. Garnish with orange slice and cinnamon stick, if desired.
