Apple Crumble

We’re currently over halfway through October, which is crazy because it felt like I blinked and yesterday was August! But here we are and we’re well into the best time of year to be baking, and there’s nothing like making a delicious pumpkin or apple dessert. This particular dessert I’m sharing today, apple crisp, is one of my all time favorites, and it can be yours too with how simple it is to make. The only hard part about this dessert is how long you have to wait for it to bake! You can use whatever kind of apple you prefer, or have on hand, to make this dessert, but I usually like to use either Granny Smith of Macintosh apples.

YOU WILL NEED:

•9×13 baking dish

•Large bowl

•Small bowl

•Peeler/Cutting Board

INGREDIENTS:
FOR THE BASE:

•7-8 apples, peeled, and cut into 1/2″ slices

•3/4 cup granulated sugar

•1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

•1/2 teaspoon salt

•1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

FOR THE CRUMBLE:

•1 stick unsalted butter, melted

•1 1/2 cup quick oats

•1 cup gluten free flour

•1/2 cup brown sugar

DIRECTIONS:
1.) Preheat oven to 350ºF and grease a 9×13 baking dish.

2.) In a large bowl, mix together the apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Then, pour into the prepared baking dish.

3.) In a small bowl, mix together the oats, flour, sugar, and butter until it clumps together, then sprinkle over the apple base.

4.) Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the apples are soft. You can test by inserting a knife into the apples. If it comes out easily, it is ready. Serve with vanilla ice cream or sweetened whipped cream.
